On March 24, 2023 a previously unreleased duet between Olivia Newton-John and Australian singer Vanessa Amorosi was made available to streaming services. True to Yourself was written by Gary Barlow (from Take That fame) along with three other songwriters.
The duet was recorded in 2002 and was meant to be released on Olivia’s then upcoming duets album called (2). Due to legal conflicts that never happened and since then fans have been waiting for an official release of this song or to hear at least a fragment of it. The wait is over. This 2002 duet will now be included in the upcoming release of Olivia duets album Just the Two of Us scheduled for an early May release. This new duets CD will contain two songs which we have never heard before: Lost Inside Your Heart with Jon Secada and True To Yourself with Vanessa Amorosi. Most of the other songs have appeared before on regular Olivia CD’s or have been available as digital downloads.

In 2003 Vanessa released the song as a solo performance on her second studio album called Change. Vanessa’s solo version can be streamed on Spotify
Duets cd (2)
The 2002 duets CD (2), which sadly did not contain the duet with Vanessa, was a great success in Australia where it reached the top 10 of the music charts. Olivia recorded duets with mostly Australian singers for it, such as Peter Allen (then deceased, but studio magic made it possible), Tina Arena, and Keith Urban, and two Americans (Richard Marx and Michael McDonald). A TV Special featuring some of her duet partners was also broadcast.
Olympics 2000
Vanessa, Olivia and Australian singer Tina Arena, who has also duetted with Olivia, were all part of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, where they all performed their own songs. Olivia did a stellar duet with John Farnham, called Dare to Dream.
Tribute
When Olivia passed away on 8 August, 2022 Vanessa was confronted with the news while live on air doing an an interview for Australian TV and broke down. She remembered Olivia in an Instagram post on August 9.
